Staff Appreciation May 4 to May 8

**NEW** May 4 to May 8 is Staff Appreciation Week! Since we can’t express our thanks to JAMS staff members in person, we are hosting a virtual staff appreciation event. Please share your thoughts, stories, and appreciation for the JAMS staff here. If you wish, you can also upload an image (hold up a “thank you” message in a picture or create a drawing/card, for example). Contact with questions.

Elective Information for Incoming Sixth-Graders

**NEW** Hello Future Jaguars!

We are requesting that families of incoming sixth-graders return elective requests to Jane Addams Middle School by Friday, May 8.

You have three different ways you can return the forms:

Contact the School Registrar, Ms. Ratner (, with any questions about registering for electives.

Support for families in need

Many families in our JAMS Community are in need of additional support, both financial and nutritional, as they cope with the adverse impacts of the Coronavirus outbreak. Jane Addams has funds from the Alliance for Education to support short-term emergency housing, food and other essential needs.

If you are in need of assistance, please contact Principal Montgomery or your student’s school counselor: It is a confidential process. Support has ranged from grocery store gift/gas cards to paying a month’s rent in an emergency.

If you can provide assistance, please contribute to the JAMS PTSA gift card drive. Sign up for as many gift cards as you are able to provide. Mail gift cards to:

Main Office
Jane Addams Middle School
11051 34th Ave. NE
Seattle, WA 98125

You can also order physical Kroger cards online and have them mailed to the above address. Here’s the link to order online:

Our counselors will confidentially distribute the cards to our families in need.

Starting with high school seniors, SPS has been distributing laptops to students since April 6. Device distribution will continue for high school and middle school students. Families will receive a notice from their child’s school when a laptop is ready for their student or family to pick up.

We have a limited number of internet hot spots available for students experiencing housing instability and those furthest from educational justice. Distribution of these devices continues. Families will receive an email and phone call if there is a hot spot for their student. School staff worked with families to identify need.
