On June 14, at the last JAMS PTSA meeting of the year, we honored our 2020-21 PTSA Award Recipients. We recognized these individuals who gave so generously of themselves, their time, and their love to our Jaguars in this most extraordinary of school years. The JAMS PTSA is grateful to these individuals for so generously sharing their many gifts with our JAMS community. Their creativity, tenacity, and commitment to our students is appreciated and recognized. Please join us in congratulating these award recipients: A Golden Acorn Award is presented by a local PTA or council to a school or community volunteer in recognition of her or his dedication and service to children and youth. Golden Acorn: Robin Goodman for her many years of chairing the JAMS Annual Fundraising Campaign, even after she had officially resigned! Robin followed through on her commitment to keep the asks of the JAMS community to one campaign and year after year successfully met her fundraising goals to meet the needs of all of our JAMS PTSA sponsored programs and family support. A Golden Apple Award is presented by a local PTA or council to school staff in recognition of her or his excellence and service to students and families. Golden Apple (Two Award Recipients): Librarian Emily Christiansen didn’t let the pandemic or remote learning stop her from finding ways to get books into our kids hands and keep them reading and engaged, from Library on the Lawn to Book Clubs. And Sanjay Mishra in the JAMS office worked tirelessly to support our families in need and found creative resources to keep students supported at home. Outstanding Advocate: Friendly Vang-Johnson for her efforts in focusing our community on Racial Equity from chairing the Community Outreach committee, to spearheading the PTSA Racial Equity statement, and so much more. Friendly pushed us all to see our community through an equity lens. |
